ABSTRACT

The chapter presents the results concerning the match attendance, choice of a favourite sector and participation at away matches. The quantitative data shows that women do not stand out in terms of the frequency with which they attend football games. The female fans’ individual stories provided in the chapter reveal that football matches play an important role in everyday life and that football passion has no gender. At the same time, the chapter emphasises that the place of the stadium seems to influence fans’ behaviour to a larger extent than gender; moreover, one should also consider age as a significant variable. The chapter also provides clear evidence that away matches, contrary to the football stadiums at home games, remain ‘the last bastion’ of hegemonic masculinity.
