As usual, David was quick on the uptake and again had useful insights. “David, honestly, it takes you minutes to grasp ideas that would take other people weeks or even months. That is such an incredible skill.” Denise couldn’t have been more delighted. This was a 180-degree turn from David's previous attitude of “let's skip the questions and get to the results.” He was starting to understand the value of Kata coaching to develop the improver. He was showing humility. He was opening up to her in a way she had not seen before. It seemed to Denise that she had jumped to hasty conclusions about how rigid and defensive David was. She really liked this side of him. Mental note, she thought. Try to avoid assumptions about other people based on initial impressions. Premature judgments are the opposite of scientific thinking.
