ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how to prepare for the Stage 5. It explains how to deal with contractor mobilisation, and what to do if people are appointed as contract administrator. The chapter gives an insight into the approach and processes required through the construction phase of the project, and a description on how to approach the ‘As-constructed’ Information. It focuses on the preparation required to complete the building, and how to prepare for handover and occupation. At the commencement of Stage 5 there is a contractor mobilisation period to enable the contractor to prepare for the construction works ahead. There is a pre-start meeting, at which the contract administrator or employer’s agent leads the project team through the proposed building project, the protocols and procedures to be adopted, and the challenges ahead. At the start of Stage 5 it is important to ensure that all documents are in place before construction work commences.
