ABSTRACT

A FEW days only were now to intervene before the marriagea of Caroline and Mr. Halesworth was to take place. He was under the necessity of going into Kent on some business with an old friend who lived there, and who was to be one of the trustees to the settlements. His riding horses were already sent into the country; he therefore went in the Dover coach, which put him down near his friend’s house, about twenty miles from London, and was to take him up at the same place the following day.
