ABSTRACT

I knocked at Lady Aubrey’s door, and on giving my name to the servant, he informed me that he had her ladyship’s orders to say, she never should be at home to Mr. Ainsforth. I inquired aft er Miss Hanbury’s health, and was answered that she was not yet awake. I left my card for the latter, and my contempt for the former, and was returning home, when, at the end of Brooke-street, I met Sir Sidney.
