Physical details of this Boston University manuscript are given in the headnote to 12 September 1818 (Westmorland Gazette, section B). The three editorial items given below precede that on the Bible Society published under this date. From the latter fact and from the reference in the first item to a piece on the Carlisle 'canal' meeting having appeared in the Gazette 'Three weeks ago'-it appeared on 22 August -it is evident that all drafts were intended for publication on 12 September.
