[Niels Klim]

This untitled manuscript, unpublished in De Quincey’s lifetime, is in the Grey Collection of the Auckland Public Library. It consists of four sheets of white paper watermarked 1822 and written on both sides in black ink. Each sheet measures approximately 420 by 320 mm and each is folded once to give a pair of geminate leaves 210 by 260 mm. The pairs of leaves are placed one inside another to form a single gathering with ff. 1 and 8 on the outside and ff. 4 and 5 at the centre. The first leaf has a piece roughly 60 by 30 mm torn from it near the foot.
