[Notes on Political Economy]

These five fragments have no direct connection but are placed together here because they show De Quincey assembling data, probably from newspapers, relating to economics. All are in the Wordsworth Library, Dove Cottage. Catalogue numbers and other manuscript data are given at the head of each item. It is probable that with sufficient research each item could be dated individually from the names and statistics mentioned; here they are placed for convenience at the point appropriate to the internal datings of two of the fragments, namely December 1842 and February 1843.
