ABSTRACT
A few days now beheld them reinstated in all their former comforts, such at least as depended upon ease and affluence alone: but while other subsequent sufferings had diminished in the mind of Angelo the feeling of deep sorrow for the loss of a son, and then again by an unexpected deliverance from those sufferings, made him almost forget the evil in the good, the heart of the sensible Gabrielle fondly yearned after her children, in anxious conjecture of their fate, and in the eager desire to behold them ere she died; for sadly she foreboded that if this period did not soon arrive, speedily must she resign the lingering hope.
