The private chronicles end with the death of Euthanasia, and one finds an account of the last years of the life of Castruccio in public histories alone. This chapter discusses Louis of Bavaria, king of the Romans, the scourge of the Guelphs, the first power of Tuscany, and the principal supporter of his own titles and pretensions.
