Essay on Sepulchres: or, a proposal for erecting some memorial of the illustrious dead in all ages on the spot where their remains have been interred (W. Miller, 1809). The present text is based on the sole edition to appear in Godwin’s lifetime. The work was written between 27 November, 1808, and 3 February, 1809.
