ABSTRACT

This chapter teaches how to make a skull prop. The shape of this skull is carved from foam, with a few layers of papier-m+óch+¬ to give it a finer surface.Make sure the skull becomes fully rounded, rather than a flat cube with rounded edges. The chapter instructs holding onto the skull to prevent it from spinning while drilling. Dip a square in the glue mixture, squeeze off as much excess glue as possible, and lay it onto the skull. It says that larger pieces can be used for the smooth surfaces on the back of the skull and the smaller pieces to cover the facial region. Tiny wrinkles will give the skull an aged texture when painted. When the skull is dry, paint the surface with a neutral grey color. Create some shading along the edges and top half of the skull, leaving the bottom half and deep recesses mostly grey. Once the paint dries, the skull is ready to make an appearance.
