Introduction

This chapter provides an introduction to the book, including background details on the topics covered, and the reasons why we decided to write it. This is based on the need to improve responsible management education by developing management curricula to include teaching IL as a threshold concept to gain a thorough understanding of responsible leadership (RL). The chapter therefore draws attention to the masking of IL and the plethora of terms used to describe leadership behaviours and practices, particularly of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) involved in corporate scandals.
