ABSTRACT

The screening foreign policy as well as geo-economic venture of the Chinese President Xi Jinping called Belt and Road Initiative specifically its implications for the United States are significant. A major signpost of China’s desire to play a prominent role in the international system is its BRI vision to connect the Eurasian landmass and maritime trade routes. The project, which is Beijing’s unifying principle and is seen as the backbone of its grand strategy, has being reconstructed at every level of the country’s political, diplomatic, financial, and military echelons in support of the project. The BRI is seen as a way for China to expand its strategic and political influence at the expense of the United States, and thus has become one of the most problematic topics of bilateral Sino-American relations. Due to the huge increase in BRI projects, the growing visibility and influence of China in the Indo-Pacific have been profoundly affected American engagement in the region.
