ABSTRACT

Faith is not a word that is used much in business. It is too spiritual. In the world of ethics, faith is often referred to as ‘irrational belief’, one that is unburdened by facts. Faith, or irrational belief, energizes like no other leadership fuel. The irrationality of faith, powerful though it is, is difficult to conjure as a leader using readers’ traditional business management methods. The energy of faith can sustain itself for longer if there are many people holding the same faith who continuously help overcome the inevitable doubts that befall their neighbours. Faith is easy to infect because it grows in potency with numbers. People infect and reinfect each other, provided the faith virus is constantly in the air. The likelihood of reflecting leadership that uses the power of faith to harness human ingenuity and industriousness is vastly increased down through the organization if boards and CEOs model such leadership strengths.
