ABSTRACT
This chapter confirms the rebellious nature of Hair by revisiting its cultural moment and subsequently tracing the potential impact of Hair on its musical theatre successors. By surveying musicals released in the following decades, this chapter proposes that Hair's influence can be seen in later musicals, for example, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wiz, and Hamilton. Furthermore, the conclusion considers how more contemporary revivals of Hair have been received. Although the views of critics are noted and explored briefly, the final chapter also includes thoughts on how Hair is received by younger generations who have been introduced to the material in the current cultural moment. Through interrogating Hair's potential legacy and carefully considering how its material can continue to resonate, the conclusion seeks to reframe this musical and its position in the musical theatre canon.
