ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. This book represents an important part of our understanding about the lives and early care of babies and young children up to the age of two in terms of the development of creativity. It explores some of the definitions of creativity that have been developed over the years and look at the different elements that have been noted as crucial to its development in young children. The book looks at the stages of early brain development and some of the skills that are acquired in the first two years of life that contribute to a baby's ability to learn new skills. It examines some of the major milestones of the first year and how these help each baby find their place in their community and why people should be encouraging experiences that promote creative thinking in even our youngest children.
