ABSTRACT

This chapter describes prominent models of family literacy and the diverse settings in which family literacy programs are offered. First, the models are categorized as comprehensive programs, child-focused programs with parent-child interaction, and two-generation (2Gen) programs. This section offers examples of the models and how differing programmatic formats can shape literacy outcomes. Second, the practice settings include preschools, home-centered and home visiting programs, schools, summer schools, libraries and community-based programs, and correctional facilities.
