ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a historiographical understanding of the problems and possibilities of writing Adivasi rural history as elaborated under the following sections: state of lack in colonial ethnography; critical evaluation of collective memory; and the need for conflating indigenous and exogenous source materials as a source of reconstructing Adivasi village history.
