ABSTRACT

This chapter elaborates on migration as a factor in determining the nature of village demography. The first section provides an overview of time and distance of movement. The second section is on Adivasi and non-Adivasi migration into and across Chotanagpur and Singhbhum, while the third section discusses migration from Kolhan to other parts of the country. The last section critically examines the impact of in–out-migration on rural life.
