ABSTRACT

Concluding this book, this chapter summarizes final thoughts on the issue of technology in higher education. We offer a broad discussion of some of the important issues discussed in past chapters; however, also offer suggestions and points of caution for faculty and teachers. In particular, this chapter notes that we should be cautious of jumping too quickly on the tech bandwagon and, instead, carefully consider how technology can be used to enhance learning. We also suggest that teachers seek out programs that can help them learn more about particular technology and how they may implement those technologies into their own classes. Lastly, we note that we, as educators, need to be willing to accept the inevitable failure of some of our tech initiatives, to learn from those experiences, and to use what we have found to inform our teaching.
