ABSTRACT

Focused toward administrators, this chapter discusses different view toward technology from both teachers and administrators. An important consideration that the chapter discusses is the need for instructor or faculty buy in toward technology initiatives. In the past, this lack of buy in or initiatives seen as coming from above, without a strong link to classroom learning, has resulted in less than stellar outcomes. This chapter discusses several examples of these initiatives that have had mixed results. In addition, this chapter notes that administrators at different levels of education (i.e., K-12 and postsecondary) likely have different views toward technology due to the major differences between educational levels. This chapter concludes with some general suggestions, from the perspective of faculty, to administrators who are involved with technology and learning decisions.
