ABSTRACT
The analysis of the Mediterranean spirit of capitalism suggests new and unexplored paths of research, but it also helps to address contemporary debates in economics. The conclusion addresses two debates—on incentive and on meritocracy—through which the book concludes by showing how analysis of the history of ideas can contribute to contemporary economics and bring back the lost heterogeneity that first grounded economic science.
