ABSTRACT

Using scenario-based examples, this chapter identifies ‘time thieves’ associated with personal organisation, teaching organisation, and curriculum design. Examples for personal organisation focus on email, social media, travel, and overcommitment. Examples for teaching organisation focus on teaching administration, student communication, and bushfire management. Examples for curriculum design focus on teaching materials, lecture preparation, assessment design, and technology. It reflects on scenarios by identifying the issues, and relating the problem from a tornado ‘spin factor’ perspective and a treadmill speed. At the end of each example, it asks readers to identify issues associated with their own practice.
