ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the book’s conclusions about the role that relationships, positive emotions, flow, spirituality, physical well-being, self-control, mindsets, executive functions, individual differences, and contextual factors play in achieving happiness and success. These conclusions are evaluated in light of the PERMA plus model and the self-determination theory. The chapter also presents INSPIRE, a new conceptual model of happiness and success that is based on seven pillars: Individual strengths and traits, Nurturing relationships, Self-regulation, Physical health, Independence, Realizing competence, and Engagement. This model is proposed to acknowledge that each child’s journey toward happiness and success is unique and shaped by a complex interplay of factors that emerge in the literature. Moreover, the INSPIRE model highlights the potential of every child and the need for supportive environments to nurture happiness and success even in adverse conditions.
