ABSTRACT

The Epilogue closes the discussion by bringing together different aspects of the book history that Bidyasundar helped us unravel, highlighting the process involved in the business of printing and publishing in Bengal that in the course of the century delineated the field of ‘popular.’ It summarises in some length a recent work in Bengali significant for its historical account and defining of the field of popular presses in Calcutta. Finally, it underscores how unique Bidyasundar had been and how seminal to rewriting to the history of printing and publishing in Bengal.
