ABSTRACT
Criminologists have constructed and used many different typologies of crime and criminals. This chapter analyzes the most common typologies that have been used and discusses the methodological problems in the construction of typologies of crime. In the typology presented in this book, types of crime are viewed as systems of behavior. The theoretical assumptions of the book’s typology are contained in three theoretical dimensions. Seven types of criminal behavior systems are constructed in relation to the three dimensions.
