ABSTRACT

This chapter distils and describes what the emerging Chinese Peace is. It begins with a discussion on the search for Chinese norms: a set of norms that has Chinese roots is consistent with domestic politics and is able to stand on its own two feet in the face of a dominant liberal ideology. Then, it examines Chinese scholars’ proposals of norms and values that are applicable in peace operations. Finally, the three key pillars of the Chinese Peace: sovereignty, political stability and state-directed economic development are presented and discussed.
