ABSTRACT

This chapter accounts for the Chinese Peace as practiced in the UNMIL. It examines China’s bilateral aid programmes, trade regimes as well as China’s participation as a part of the multilateral efforts in peacekeeping and peacebuilding activities. China has provided highly useful and much appreciated assistance in building infrastructure and in fighting Ebola. It had not taken a leading role in the multilateral programmes and had chosen to focus on simpler projects, such as building the new University campus. As far as building roads and bridges, China has been very useful in Liberia. However, the dormant Bong Iron mine project and the massive trade deficient mean that Liberia is hardly enjoying the much touted “win-win” relationship with China.
