ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter presents the case for a liberal renaissance in the liberal peacebuilding debate based on the argument that the crisis of liberal peacebuilding was brought by its departure from its holistic and comprehensive origins. It recapitulates the reasons why the critique of liberal peacebuilding missed the target in explaining the crisis of liberal peace. It also presents the potential for liberalism and localism to complement each other. It closes with final remarks on the book’s relevance to the study and practice of peacebuilding. It invites academics and peacebuilders to continuously ask the difficult and unpopular questions and challenge the conventional knowledge in peace and peacebuilding.
