ABSTRACT

Healthcare delivery is not a solo act, and interprofessionalism describes the very environment the healthcare workforce has to navigate in today's healthcare system. In this chapter, student professional development portfolios reveal insights into professional development, accountability, lifelong learning, and contributions to the profession and community. World Café debriefs include conversations about the role appearance and interpersonal skills contribute toward professionalism. Best practice programs for professionalism training are examined. Academia seeks to simulate the teamwork and community partnerships students will encounter in their careers with associated professionalism expectations. Case competitions provide students with an opportunity to analyze and present a solution to real issues faced by healthcare organizations and gain professional skills and confidence through the process. Organizations link professionalism with value and mission statements, and link a professional standard to quality of care.
