ABSTRACT

Technology is driving how business is conducted. In order to keep pace, today's healthcare workforce will have to hone business skill competencies that are agile and adaptable. We explore how the connected-workforce has to adapt to artificial intelligence and point-of-care diagnostics, as well as pay attention to the urgent focus on cyber security. Emerging titles like the Chief Innovation Officer signal both a need and response to organizational agility. Students weigh in on business functions including strategic planning, financing, marketing, and organizational dynamics through both professional development portfolios and World Café conversations. This chapter concludes with analysis of promising business practices that focus on patient storytelling and staff strength-based value assessments.
