ABSTRACT
This chapter opens long-standing debates on the formation of the political states of Nepal, Sikkim, and Bhutan in the Eastern Himalayas, and offers a glimpse of the key themes and issues covered in the volume. It also details the scope and the key directions of the study undertaken in this volume, along with highlighting the contexts of the research.
