ABSTRACT

This chapter reports the result of a mixed-method case study on student experiences with the operation of the credit-based training system in curricula in a key university in Vietnam. The results revealed that despite some challenges, the use of the training system helped students to change their learning habits more positively and allowed them flexibility in their learning processes. The implementation of the training system was effective in the dimensions of operational regulations and support and management but less effective in terms of conducting teaching and learning activities. Students reported that they needed further support regarding the development of suitable study plans, selection of relevant subjects, and self-directed learning abilities. The chapter discusses ways to improve the operation of the credit-based curricula in terms of management, pedagogical practices, and student engagement.
