ABSTRACT
This chapter is an overall evaluation of the democratic movement launched in the 1950s, the reasons for the emergence of the stronger rulers at their cost and uncovering the limitations of the democratic movement and lessons to be learnt. It explores the reasons behind the reassertion of the crumbling feudal order and touches upon the many significant issues that still needs to be sorted out in the political landscape of Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan.
