ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 explains the current trends that are likely to dominate the future of air warfare. First, the technological aspect is discussed in terms of the prevailing tendency of cross-domain integration, addressing the greater need for integration with space and cyber domains. The future of drone warfare, the balance between manned versus unmanned platforms, and relationship with industry are also discussed. Second, the types of future wars and the place of air power in them are discussed, including the strengthening of lawfare. Finally, the organisational future of air power is discussed in terms of jointness versus independence; and unilateralism or an allied framework.
