ABSTRACT

The full spectrum of air power capabilities remains quintessential for any operation. Another important challenge that ultra-cost access to space (UCAS) could pose in the future is related to strategy. While human error and adjustment of behaviour according to the requirements of the tactical environment can be predicted to some extent, the semi-autonomous or autonomous mode of UCAS may not be so predictable and would lack that human judgement that is sometimes so crucial for making the right decision. Referring to integrating space/cyber operations with other domains in a multi-domain environment, there are a few aspects which should be addressed. In order to take advantage of all domains and achieve effective integration across all levels of warfare, attention should be paid to shaping multi-domain command and control. Common secure communications are fundamental. Operational interoperability of equipment can however, be cobbled up in an emergency provided there is some commonality allowing technical interfacing.
