ABSTRACT

We know examine an empirically supported, applied model of deception that can be utilized in diagnosis, planning, and evaluation. The FDA-5 model highlights the: (a) the symptoms targeted for deception, which may reflect goal formulation and perhaps planning on the part of the faker, (b) behavioral output in the form of typical styles of deceptive responding, and (c) the means used to understand and measure these response patterns. The usefulness of the model has been demonstrated for several decades.
