ABSTRACT
When negotiating a ship sale transaction, sometimes the parties agree that neither party will become legally bound until certain specified conditions or “subjects” have been satisfied. In second-hand ship sales, the satisfaction of such conditions is widely referred to as the “lifting of subjects”.
