ABSTRACT

The visit to Australia and New Zealand was the beginning of a busy programme of international touring that marked Alfredo Campoli 's career for a number of years. As a composer he seems to have enjoyed considerable success. In 1935 he was a delegate for Spanish Music at the Florentine May Musical Festival, and the following year he represented Spain at the International Festival of Contemporary Music at Barcelona. Standing in a large garden that included a croquet lawn and, a tennis court, 48 Eversley Park Road in the northern suburb of Winchmore Hill was a fine, seventeen-room house that reflected Alfredo's new status as an international artist. Alfredo continued to tour internationally until 1978 when he and Daphne Ibbott played in Canada, the fifth time he had played there. In 1935 he was a delegate for Spanish Music at the Florentine May Musical Festival, and the following year he represented Spain at International Festival of Contemporary Music at Barcelona.
