ABSTRACT

It is a well-established fact that we humans are pleasure seeking and pain avoiding creatures. All things being equal, we naturally act to find pleasure and bypass pain. The rub, though, is that reader often let pleasure and pain run they to their detriment rather than purposely leveraging it to our advantage. One of the authors close friends is a hypnotherapist. He first induces a relaxed, receptive state (a hypnotic trance, he calls it), and then he provides empowering affirmations to his patient to help them relieve their suffering. He explains that, by doing this, he can break through stubborn defenses, overpowering emotions, and negative thinking in order to implant rational thoughts into the patient’s consciousness. Negative thoughts can and will deter they from acting on their Happiness Action Plan. While any negative ones can inhibit they, five seem to crop up over and over in people who don’t follow through.
