ABSTRACT

After going one-by-one through these 12 narratives, it remains, of course, to tie them all together. In the Epilogue, we try to hear the authors speak not only to us but also to each other. In a few cases, this would not be a forced dialogue, since some of the younger authors were acquainted with or influenced by the lives and work of some of their seniors. In the process of witnessing the authors’ mutual engagement, the chapter draws out universals – there are lessons that overlap and collide in and between these works that originate at different times and locales across the world. This is, indeed, what makes these 12 lives so exemplary.
