I have identified six main characteristics o f the pupil-centred approach (which are diametrically opposed to those of the didactic method described above):263
(i) The teacher should not be an instructor, but rather a facilitator of student and pupil activities. At the extreme, it is the students or pupils who decide which activities to undertake.
