ABSTRACT

“Assessments and the Impact on Learning Culture” tackles the growing movement toward data-based student and teacher assessment. Education systems and schools need a better approach to data strategy and management for three important reasons. First, data is often misused for political purposes. Second, there is an overemphasis on collecting data without a corresponding strategy to determine its purpose. Third, one-off or limited data points are often used as excuses to make drastic changes, which can have a negative impact on school culture and learning.
