ABSTRACT

This chapter applies the principals of Intelligent organisation to the individual, showing their relevance and appropriateness. While it is clear that all of us will need that support at some stage in our lives, some more than others this chapter explores our obligation to ourselves and each other to be as self-reliant, as sustainable, as we can be. That way we minimise the need for support or intervention by the state or other actors and ensure that our resources, provided to the state through taxation, are available to support those who really need them. Taking the author as the core of the story, the chapter considers how we each play multiple roles in life and how we must comprehend those roles and learn to balance the demands and benefits of each. The chapter shows how each individual, like any organisation, must orient itself around a clarity of purpose in order to be sustainable. The readers will understand how to apply these ideas to themselves.
