ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a methodology for individuals and organisations wishing to pursue the idea of intelligent organisation. It introduces some self-checks for individuals wishing to pursue the ideas as well as that of the ‘GPF’, the guide philosopher and friend essential to that leader. Building on the work throughout the book, the chapter stresses that creating an intelligent organisation is not about achieving a finite end but about creating a set of structural, informational and behavioural conditions which enable the continual evolution of the organisation in concert with its environment and its current and future customers. The chapter shows that realising this idealised way of thinking about how we should manage organisations may be challenging but we must try, because trying will get us closer to where we need to be if our organisations, ourselves, our states and our societies are to be sustainable. The reader will be well equipped to take action.
