ABSTRACT

The different chapters of the book have shown that the creation of small businesses, and their particular type of dynamism in an economy still dominated to a large extent by big business, are extremely complex issues. To understand them properly, we must examine them from several standpoints at once. We need only look at the main points raised in each chapter to realize just how complex the questions really are. The basic elements of the variables discussed by the different authors can, however, be extracted to build a theory that will reflect the complexity of the situation and thus help us to understand the phenomenon. Such a theory may also be useful to predict the evolution of small business dynamism in the coming decades.
