ABSTRACT

Having taught English in public schools before becoming a psychologist, and having been trained in child and family therapy, I have grown intimately acquainted with the feelings of powerlessness that working with children can induce. In fact, I can easily say that it has been during my treatment sessions with children that my most salient feelings of futility and failure have arisen, as have the opportunities to ripen and mature, both as an individual as well as a professional.
