ABSTRACT

Early Years Pedagogy in Practice has been written entirely with Student, the early years pedagogue, their direct work in mind. Students’ pedagogical understanding will actually begin when they work alongside children and colleagues in a way that allows lived experience to be at the heart of learning. Pedagogy, becomes about living, and not just about education, which can be achieved through offering new experiences to children and creating moments and spaces to explore lived experiences. Students begin to gain a ‘lived’ sense of pedagogy when they live and relive their pedagogical moments with children, and consistently question whether Students are acting in the best interests of this child, in this particular situation, and in this particular context. Social pedagogy, which is essentially concerned with well-being, learning, and growth.
