ABSTRACT

Many publications identify organizational skill, decision-making, creating a vision or objective, coordinating work of a team and motivating people among the top leadership and management skills required for the position. Fernandez-Araoz et al. cited these skills as competencies required to be a great leader. Inherent in all of these skills is communication. Much communication is multimodal, limited only by the media involved or physical presence. Communicating discipline and responsibility involves an awareness of one's own role in and responsibility to the organization and self-discipline. This chapter uses concepts of neuroscience to explain why principles associated with these concepts tend to work well. It also provides an overview of this book. The book details the connections between neuroscience and emotional intelligence. It emphasizes particular cases for making the reader to consider the various situations and information.
